Have a fantastic time, kiddos!! I can't wait to see the post hols post!!

Our favourite BBQ food is hamburgers with all the trimmings - lettuce, tomato, beetroot (gotta have beetroot)tomato sauce and white bread. Yum. Terribly Australian I suspect!!

Oh and champagne, chocolate and toasted marshmallows...and good friends like you guys!! (To eat with, not to eat!!)

We like hearty breakfasts when we camp. I made blueberry pancakes and served with homemade applesauce. Both just need a little prep at home and then mix the batter and enjoy. For dinners we like over the grill things like burgers and chicken. My husband has perfected the campstove spaghetti dinner and he serves with salad and bread. I make up a batch of chili (mine is turkey) to warm up and serve with corn muffins made ahead at home. Dessert is always s'mores and the boys like me to bring a package of instant pudding to mix in a ziplock and serve in cups....they think it is a tradition. I make lots of wraps for lunch with turkey, chicken, lettuce, onions, pesto, grated cheese, sprouts, peppers, and whatever else I can fit in the cooler. Fresh fruit is easy and convenient to pack as well in the cooler-apples, grapes, oranges, strawberries. Snacks are a must when we go camping and I like to bring granola bars, a variety of nuts, some dried blueberries and cranberries, and power bar type snacks for hiking.

I am ready to go....camping and good food. Have fun!

Thanks for all the recommendations! Barb, I can't imagine the size of your cooler with teenage boys to feed!

Jeanne, I have never heard of beetroots on hamburgers. Are they marinated or pickled??
